Derek was born into a family of werewolves. His mother, Talia, was much respected within the werewolf community meaning Derek came into contact with members of a number of other packs.He and his family lived in Hale House in Beacon Hills, California and he attended Beacon Hills High School. At age 15-year-old Derek conspired with an Alpha (Ennis) to have Derek's girlfriend (Paige) bitten in hopes of turning her into a werewolf. However the bite did not take with her. And Derek had to take her life, thrus turning his werewolf eyes from golden to blue, as she was an innocent life.
A year after graduating high school Derek had a relationship with werewolf hunter Kate Argent. he used him to gather information on his family making him an unwitting accomplice to the arson fire at Hale House that killed most of his family.
Later after his Uncle Peter killed the conspirators involved in the fire, Derek killed him and took the status of Alpha Werewolf. It was at that point that he took it upon himself to try and build a pack of students that went to Beacon Hills High School.
Most recently he took it upon himself In order to save the life of his sister Cora, (with the help of his uncle Peter's suggeston don't get him started on his reserected uncle) Derek gave up the spark that made him an Alpha. His eyes turned from red back to blue.

Here she was. Nadia dressed in her costume and came to the ball alone. She would have come to the ball with Talia but she had been asked to it by Peter. Yes he was her friend too but Nadia didn't want to be a third wheel. So she came to the ball alone. She caught a glimps of Talia entering the ball with Peter they both looked wonderful. With a breathe in Nadia enter the great hall. Alone. She could do this. Tonight she would find her won prince charming. He was out there somewhere wasn't he?
The music was playing. Nadia was happy she had come. She went to the punch bowl, and got a drink of the pumpkin juice punch. She took a drink and watched everyone dance and mingle. A bit of lonliness fell over her soul. Nadia reached up and ran her finger over her strawberry blond hair. Her green eyes looked up at the celing that was enchanted to look like the night sky. It was then she saw a shooting star.
"May I find my prince tonight." She thought to herself. Nadia let out a small laugh. "Wish making is stupid." She said to herself under her breathe, as she took another drink of her pumpkin juice. It was worth a shot. Nadia's green eyes watched everyone. As if her heart was waiting, for the one, whom would take her breathe away, and love her.
